Our Story

Name of Furbaby: Dougall,a purebred domestic shorthair

Name of Furbaby’s Human: Sarah Murphy

Name of Furbaby’s Doctor: Dr Mandy Burrows

Why we came to ADC

Dougall was referred to see Mandy at my request after a lesion on his skin didn’t go away. I already knew Mandy as she had successfully treated one of my dogs over twenty years ago so I knew she was the best person to care for Dougall. I wouldn’t have trusted my precious puss with anyone else

Diagnosis

Well it’s a nasty one - Bowenoid carcinoma in situ, and as if one skin problem isn’t enough, dermatophytosis/candidiasis and follicular cyst.

Treatment

Dougall has undergone numerous surgeries, has had creams applied, medications squirted down his throat and various assorted interventions. He is currently on a trial treatment with a special secret gel.

Resolution

It may not sound like a successful story with a happy ending but it is. Dougall is a geriatric cat and in palliative care but is more likely to die with his skin condition than as a result of it. He has a great quality of life and this is enhanced by the treatment he receives at ADC.

Why we love ADC

There is no doubting Mandy’s personal brilliance, professional knowledge and expertise. She is adept at finding solutions to tricky problems and inspires me with confidence. Mandy puts Dougall’s wellbeing above all else and has a sincere and genuine concern for him (even though he treats her with distain). Karla, Emma and the rest of the team are also key to Dougall’s care and I know that when I leave him with them he is in good hands.
