Dr Mandy is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) in Veterinary Dermatology; a registered specialist in veterinary dermatology and Associate Professor in Small Animal Medicine (Dermatology) at Murdoch University, Western Australia. She is the most experienced veterinary dermatologist in Western Australia with over 30 years working in University and clinical practice and teaching. She has trained the majority of veterinary dermatologists now working in veterinary specialty practice in Western Australia.

Achievements:

Mandy has been designing and delivering the dermatology curriculum and teaching undergraduate veterinary students at Murdoch University for the past twenty years. She took a part time academic position at the University in 2017 and has received Vice Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching and Excellence in Learning for three consecutive years in recognition for being in the top 10% of teaching staff. She founded the Dermatology Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) and served in a voluntary capacity on the Board of Examiners, as Chief Examiner and President of College Council and the Advisory Committee for the Registration of Veterinary Specialists. She is the current past-President of the Council of the ANZCVS; the current ANZ representative of the World Association for Veterinary Dermatology and the President of World Congress in Veterinary Dermatology. She was the co-editor of the international journal Veterinary Dermatology; she has authored and co-authored many publications in national and international journals and textbooks and delivers lectures in veterinary dermatology at both national and international conferences. Her opinion is regularly sought in providing specialist expertise and advice to veterinary industry groups.

Mandy has extensive experience with clinical dermatology in companion animals. A deep personal commitment to working for the good of animals, students, veterinary practitioners and society informs all her work. Mandy has been providing accessible continuing education programs for local and regional veterinarians and veterinary nurses for decades, motivated to bring better dermatology care to the animals of Western Australia. She values being able to make a difference and finds great reward in the challenge of finding creative and practical solutions to difficult problems.
